Dear Younger Me…

Dear Younger Me,

I hope that someday you can see the beauty in what you have now instead of what you don’t have. I hope that someday you stop comparing yourself to everyone else and realise that life is like a book with many pages that you have to turn to get to the next chapter, so don’t keep re-reading the last one. This is your story.

I hope that someday you can move on from what happened in the past because today is not yesterday. I hope that someday you realise that everything happens for a reason, that people will come into your life for a reason: either as a blessing or a lesson. Some people will be there for you, some won’t. Some rides will be smooth, some won’t, and it’s okay. Always remember that everything in this world is temporary: the struggles, good times, bad times, relationships and feelings are all temporary. So enjoy the good and look past the bad, because nothing lasts forever.

I hope you know you can always turn to God. Don’t take matters into your own hands and wait to see what he has in store for you. Cherish the time you have on this Earth because your time is limited: too many places to see and amazing people to meet to be stuck in the past. Live the life you want and don’t settle for anything less than you deserve. I’m looking forward to the day you realise that Prince Charming only exists in fairy tales. God will put the right person in your life when the time comes, so don’t worry about it.

I want you to know that you’re not invisible and that you matter. You are a beautiful creation of God. Stay true to yourself and your beliefs. Don’t work hard, but work smart. Nothing is impossible when you dream. Never lose faith, and remember where you come from. Always.

Dear Younger Me, oh the things I would change, but we live and we learn. You will learn too.

It’s not your fault. You were never meant to carry this beyond the cross. You are holy, you are righteous. (…) Every moment brings you closer to who you were meant to be.

– MercyMe

Until next time,

I love you.
